I am a student at McGill University working towards a double major in Computer Science and Economics with a passion for problems in finance, design, and technology.
My childhood experiences with my grandparents inspired me to begin volunteering for Longfields Davidson Senior Home in an effort to help the elderly and interact with them in way that would benefit their quality of life. I noticed that the seniors expressed regret at their inability to utilize technology to its full extent. This experience drove me to learn Android Studio and MIT App Inventor to develop simple, easy-to-use mobile applications for seniors to communicate with their grandchildren and their friends through the use of email and other similar programs. This project was my first experience in conducting user research and developing simplified, intuitive tools for users without experience with technology.
This experience motivated me to explore how technology could assist another community. I joined the Field Innovation Team—a community of volunteers from robotics, community justice, design, technology and beyond for real-time innovation in disasters—to help design curriculum for kids in the refugee crisis in Lebanon and Syria. As part of this initiative, I designed and created animated videos using Adobe After Effects and Adobe Illustrator to communicate concepts around empathy and emergency preparedness for kids ages 3-9.
After completing a summer intensive course in financial, stock, and economic analysis at Columbia University in New York City, I was driven to promote financial literacy and planning amongst my peers. To accomplish this, I started FIBE, an organization with the aim of increasing awareness in the fields of Finance, Investing, Business, and Economics among high school students.
